The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is a full-time position. Under the guidance of the Process Engineer, the Industrial Maintenance Mechanic is tasked with keeping the plant up-time as high as possible.  He/She is responsible for preventative maintenance, repairs, spares inventory, and equipment functionality and safety. The Industrial Maintenance Mechanic works with the operations staff, under the direction of the Process Engineer, to identify areas that need attention and continually develop preventative maintenance schedules to ensure timely completion.  Ability to work unsupervised, stay on task, and complete multiple projects on time is essential.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Minimize downtime due to equipment failure and equipment maintenance.  

  • Troubleshoot and repair equipment that has failed.

  • Create, update and implement preventative maintenance cycles for all equipment in the plant.

  • Work with the Process Engineer and others to determine priority of projects and tasks.

  • Research and submit proposals for increases in efficiency, yield, and throughput for the entire production process.

  • Research, document and collect the proper maintenance manuals, memos, procedures and guides.

  • Identify areas for improvement with equipment application, functionality, layout or usage.  Troubleshoot failure points and recommend changes.

  • Communicates and schedules known downtime to limit impact to production.

  • Create and improve on a stock of spare parts. Organize part lists and specifications.  

  • Be available to deal with issues of unscheduled downtime at odd hours.

  • Identify and correct safety concerns dealing with processing equipment.

  • Ensure the proper functioning of pumps, motors, mixers, piping, centrifuges, burners, valves, instrumentation, compressors and electrical controls.

 

 

 

 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Minimum 5 years experience working with mechanical maintenance.

  • Must have knowledge of functionality and maintenance of pumps, compressors, burners, 480V motors, process instrumentation and control wiring.

  • Knowledge of PLC controls, centrifuges, vacuum pumps, filter presses, gear boxes and control valves.

  • Ability to effectively and efficiently communicate needs to management.

  • Ability to read, understand, follow, and enforce company rules and regulations as well as OSHA standards and requirements.

  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel

  • Must have great attention to detail.

  • Previous experience reading and comprehending Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS).

  • Previous experience with chemical manufacturing and Lock Out/Tag Out

  • Organization in creating schedules, inventories and timelines.

  • Ability to work in a production and lab environment with dust, fumes, varied temperatures, a variety of chemicals,  and loud machinery.

  • Needs to be able to work independently or with little supervision.

  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.

  • Able to be trained to drive forklift.

 

COMPENSATION:

Starting wage $26/hour plus benefits.

Weekend Night Driver

General Biodiesel has a dynamic environment where personal and professional growth is supported and expected. 


This is a flex driver position with an ideal availability of Fri-Tues nights.  Under the guidance of the UCO Collections Manager, this individual uses a variety of trucks to collect and transport non-hazardous liquids from specified locations to be used in the production of biodiesel fuel. Bending, crouching and handling of large hoses required. The Driver documents collection volumes, customer information, and potential issues while maintaining truck logs. He/She cleans, inspects and services collection areas and vehicle as needed.  The Driver will deliver or remove barrels, tanks, containers and equipment at customer locations, with heavy lifting required.  Lastly, this position requires the ability to become familiar with a network of tanks and pumps within the operation to move raw materials around as needed and maintain the paperwork essential to this function.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Inspect trucks prior to beginning routes to ensure safe operating condition.

  • Refuel trucks or add other fluids, such as oil or brake fluid.

  • Drive trucks, following established routes and adhering to all posted traffic laws, through residential streets or alleys or through business or industrial areas.

  • Operate equipment that collects the used cooking oil, including automated or semi-automated hoses and pumps.

  • Deliver and move tanks at customer locations.

  • Perform tank clean up, including grease and oil removal, as needed.

  • Load and unload trucks to collect used cooking oil and drive to the next collection point.

  • Daily reporting on route, customer, and collections information.

  • Communicate with manager concerning delays, unsafe sites, accidents and damage, traffic violations, equipment breakdowns, or other maintenance problems.

  • Check traffic and weather conditions to determine how routes will be affected.

  • Safely and consistently operate pumps and valves inside the business to facilitate the transfer of raw materials in accordance with company policy.

  • Read, understand and follow company rules and regulations as well as OSHA and DOT standards and requirements.

  • Perform minor preventive maintenance.


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum G.E.D. equivalent.

  • A Washington State Driver’s license, CDL Class B required.  Tanker endorsement required.

  • Ability to pass a Driving Record Check and a Drug Test as well as an FBI background check in order to access secure facilities.

  • Prior experience checking vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order.

  • Ability to communicate with people outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, the public, government, and other external sources.

  • Good Customer Service experience in dealing with the public, clients and other employees, as well as strong organizational skills.

  • Clean-up skill, including oil and grease; ability to use equipment such as vacuums to clean up grease and other products.

  • Must be able to perform cleaning duties on site as needed.  Bending over, picking up trash and debris up to 3 hours continuously and throughout the day

  • Must be able to lift up to 20 lbs at arms length as needed throughout the day

  • Must be able to lift, push and pull up to 100 lbs repeatedly during the shift.

  • Ability to obtain Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) after hire.

  • Mechanical experience strongly preferred.

  • Need to be able to work independently or with little supervision once instructions are given.

  • Ability to obtain security clearances for government installations.


COMPENSATION:

Salary/Wage is depending on experience, plus benefits.

Class B CDL Driver

Production Assistant

General Biodiesel is looking for a team member who wants to expand his/her skill set and work in an industrial production environment.  We are looking for bright individuals with a team-oriented attitude that want to work hard and learn how to operate, maintain and improve an automated production facility.  You will learn how and why industrial and lab equipment operate, the chemistry involved in the process and how an automated facility is operated, improved and maintained.

The Production Assistant is a full-time position with 12-hr shifts four days a week. Shifts are during the daytime or overnight and shifts may/will be rotated. The Production Assistant, under the direction of the Lead Production Assistant and Process Manager, follows specific instruction on how to transform feedstock into high quality biodiesel fuel. Special attention to detail and timing are required when working with the materials and equipment. The Production Assistant maintains an efficient schedule to execute required batch processing and fuel load outs to customers. The Production Assistant assumes duties and responsibilities that span a wide range of tasks. 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
Run the production floor and monitoring equipment to ensure safe and efficient operation. 
Maintain an organized and clean plant floor.
Operate pumps, centrifuges, valves, boilers, reactors and chillers to produce a quality product.
Document and report unusual results, situations and/or broken equipment.
Perform fuel load outs to customers and ensure proper paperwork is exchanged and reported. 
Test samples of materials or products to ensure compliance with specifications, using test equipment.
Ensure all persons on the production floor are properly equipped with personal protection gear and that they adhere to safety rules and SOPs
Read, understand and follow company rules and regulations as well as OSHA standards and requirements.
Perform preventive maintenance.
Take on projects as needed.

REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum G.E.D. equivalent. 
Must have great attention to detail.
Must be medically capable to wear a respirator.
Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 lbs repeatedly throughout a shift. 
Ability to read and comprehend instructions dealing with weights and measurements.
Ability to follow detailed instructions on mixing or blending a wide range of chemicals and materials with attention to specific timing, temperatures, and safety equipment needed.
Ability to work in a production and lab environment with dust, fumes, varied temperatures and a variety of chemicals, ingredients and machinery producing increased levels of noise.
Need to be able to work independently or with little supervision once instructions are given.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
Previous experience in a chemical facility.

Experience working with pumps, boilers, reactors, heat exchangers, centrifuges, PLCs or chillers.

Working knowledge of hand tools and general maintenance of equipment/machinery.
